Brief Analysis on Basic Knowledge of Pipe Belt Conveyor —— 文章正文2015-12-30

With increasing requirement of people on environment, the pipe belt conveyor, as a sealed material transport tool, has been increasingly used in many industries. The following is brief analysis on its basic knowledge:

I. Structural characteristics:

Pipe belt conveyor is a new belt conveyor, and used to convey materials. For this kind of conveyor, hexagonally arranged idlers force the belt to be rolled as edges to shape round pipe. Positions of its head, tail, feeding point, discharging point and take-up device are basically same as that of common belt conveyor in terms of structure. After materials are fed into transition section of tail belting, the rubber belt is gradually rolled into pipe type to convey materials in sealed manner, and then is gradually opened at the transition section of head belting up to discharging point. Specific structure is shown in following figure. The pipe belt conveyor consists of drive device, drive pulley, tailstock, spiral take-up device, bend pulley, transition rack, belt, support, truss, idler, walkway, hexagonal idler set, horizontal belt-turning device, middle rack, tower, etc. After materials are fed into transition section of tail belting, the rubber belt is gradually rolled into pipe type to convey materials in sealed manner, and then is gradually opened at the transition section of head belting up to discharging point.

II. Advantages of pipe belt conveyor compared with belt conveyor

Small bending radius

Compared with other types of belt conveyors, pipe belt conveyor has an advantage of small bending radius. For most applications, this advantage is important. For example, for sudden change in belting direction, transfer point is not required. Idlers shape a ring around the belting, thus, the belting can bend towards any direction. The belting can be bent horizontally or vertically or both. Cancellation of transfer point makes additional pulley, feeding hopper and dust collector unnecessary, reducing loss of materials dramatically. The most important aspect is the removal of maintenance for transfer point. Pipe belt conveyor may have multiple bending sections; therefore, one pipe belt conveyor can replace multiple common belt conveyors, related transfer points and additional equipment.

The feature of environmental protection

Since materials are totally sealed in rubber belt, conveying lump materials, powder materials, toxic and dusting materials will cause no environmental pollution.

Capacity of large-angle inclination

Compared with common belt conveyor, pipe belt conveyor is stronger in conveying materials in inclined way. Its round cross section increases the contact area of materials and belting, and enlarges inclination angle by 50% with maximum angle being 27°. Larger inclination angle results in shorter conveyor length, so money is saved. For this reason, pipe belt conveyor becomes the only feasible conveying solution in limited space and properties.

Return belting of round tubular type

The return belting of pipe belt conveyor is also of round tubular type. The belting is rolled, and the overlapping part is in the bottom of round pipe, so that the belting and carrying side share same bending route. Besides, dirty surface of the belting is wrapped so that there is small possibility for materials to drop.

Conveying capacity equal to that of larger common belt conveyor

The conveying capacity of pipe belt conveyor is generally equal to that of common belt conveyor whose belt width is 2.5 to 3 times larger than the pipe diameter of pipe belt conveyor. For example, a pipe belt conveyor with pipe diameter being 300mm (12in) has the same conveying capacity with the common belt conveyor with belt width being 800mm (30in), trough angle of idler being 20°, and discharging angle being 20°, even if the support of pipe belt conveyor is just 635mm (25in) wide and that of common belt conveyor is at least 1050mm (41in) wide. In the tunnel with limited installing space for conveyor, the use of pipe belt conveyor can reduce the cross section of the tunnel.

Conveying capacity of carrying and return belts

Like common belt conveyor, pipe belt conveyor is also possible to convey materials through both carrying belt and return belt. To convey materials through return belt, the belting must be overturned by 180° to locate the overlapping part in the top, with dirty surface of belting still orienting inwards. On this occasion, the number of pulley and drive device needs to be increased, but it is more economical to install one pipe belt conveyor than two common belt conveyors.

Use of standard component

Standard components of common belt conveyor can also be used for the pipe belt conveyor. Since the belting of pipe belt conveyor is parallel in head, tail and take-up pulley positions and belt speed series is consistent, the standard pulley, bearing and drive device of common belt conveyor can be used.

III. Commissioning of pipe belt conveyor

After installation and acceptance, and gear box and parts requiring lubrication are filled with oil, no-load commissioning shall be carried out, to observe the operation of gear box, motor, pulley, belt and other equipment and to record their heating and vibration conditions. During the commissioning, special attention shall be paid to the operation of transition section, to see whether this section can roll the flat belt and then open it; if failure occurs, idlers in transition section shall be adjusted. Where the overlapping part of tubular belting is not right above six PSK idlers, PSK idlers shall be adjusted.

Requirement for commissioning of pipe belt conveyor:

Overlapping part of belt is right above six PSK idlers.

No “Snake” turning occurs on pipe belt conveyor.

PSK idlers have good contact with belt.

Vibration and temperature of gear box and motor shall meet relevant requirements.

Take-up devices operate normally and no slipping occurs on rubber belt during start and stop operation.

Scratch of rubber belt and unallowed friction shall not occur.

Interlocking and various emergency buttons are in good condition.

Working temperature of bearing shall be stable, temperature of sliding bearing be less than 65℃, and temperature of rolling temperature be less than 80℃.

No abnormity occurs on bearing and rotating elements.

No oil leakage and dropping occur.

All idlers rotate smoothly during coal feeding.

Output meets standard.

Control system is in good condition, and operation can be easily conducted.

Gap between rubber skirtboard and belt of guide chute shall be appropriate.

No heating occurs on liquid coupling.
